Tour Overview

Sri Lanka is living history, layered across centuries and still vividly present. This 14-day expedition explores its UNESCO World Heritage treasures, from Anuradhapura’s sacred Bodhi Tree and Polonnaruwa’s ancient stone Buddhas to the cave temples of Dambulla and the hill capital of Kandy. It extends into Horton Plains and World’s End and the biodiversity-rich Sinharaja rainforest. Along the way, cycle through ancient ruins, ride scenic highland trains, track elephants in Udawalawe and relax on the southern coast. The journey ends in Colombo, capturing the island’s rich blend of history, nature and modern life.

Day 1

Arrival & Coastal Relaxation

Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport and transfer to Negombo. Check into your beachfront hotel and unwind after your journey. Enjoy a relaxing evening by the sea, where golden sunsets and gentle ocean breezes provide the perfect introduction to Sri Lanka’s tropical charm.

Into the Wild: Wilpattu Safari

After breakfast, travel to Wilpattu National Park, known for its natural lakes and diverse wildlife. In the afternoon, embark on a thrilling jeep safari, spotting leopards, elephants and birdlife. Experience the untamed beauty of Sri Lanka’s largest national park before settling in for the night.

Day 3

Ancient Anuradhapura

Enjoy an early morning safari before traveling to Anuradhapura. Explore sacred sites including Sri Maha Bodhi, Ruwanweliseya and Jetavanaramaya. Discover the rich history of this ancient capital, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world.

Day 4

Sigiriya & Dambulla Wonders

Travel to Sigiriya and climb the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the evening, visit the Dambulla Cave Temple, famed for its stunning cave murals and Buddha statues. Overnight stay in Sigiriya.

Day 5

Village Life & Kandy Culture

Experience rural life in Sigiriya with a village tour including a bullock cart ride and canoe journey, followed by a traditional lunch. Continue to Kandy, enjoy a cultural dance show and visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Overnight stay in Kandy.

Hill Country Escape

Journey to Nuwara Eliya, known for its cool climate and colonial charm. Visit a tea plantation and factory to learn about Ceylon tea production. Explore Gregory Lake and nearby landmarks before settling into your hotel in the heart of the hill country.

Scenic Train to Ella & Adventure

Take the scenic train from Nanu Oya to Ella, one of the world’s most beautiful rail journeys. Visit Nine Arch Bridge and Ravana Falls. Optional adventure activities like ziplining and abseiling add excitement before relaxing in Ella.

Ella to Arugam Bay

Start with a hike to Little Adam’s Peak for panoramic views. Then travel to Arugam Bay, a laid-back coastal destination. Spend the evening relaxing by the beach, enjoying the calm atmosphere and scenic surroundings.
